Your Scholarship Money Could Be in the Stars

Category : Blog

“Do I have a chance of getting a scholarship?” – This is the question that so many modern students are concerned about. Students learn much information, develop their skills and do their best to get a scholarship in a prestigious university. Despite the fact that it is useful, you don’t have to be a genius and struggle to be enrolled in a university. Granting a student a scholarship is based on the institution’s own selection criteria, personal qualities of the applicant, or simply the form of an application essay. Furthermore, in some cases, a person needs only to be interested in certain academic discipline and be ready for research and experimentation. This applies primarily to such study fields like astronomy and aerospace engineering.

Most Popular Space Science Scholarships

Some universities offer scholarships for those who like to study the stars. Can you believe it? Let’s see what the educational organizations have prepared for the astronomy lovers.

  1. The Galactic Unite Blytheway Scholarship.

The first space science scholarship we would like to present has been launched by the spaceline Virgin Galactic and Virgin Unite. This grant was developed to attract the students to explore the full potential and benefits of space travel. This scholarship was designed for women students, especially for those interested in STEM (meaning science, technology, engineering, and math). The winners will have to take part in a Galactic Unite mentorship program to train with a mentor before they start studying the stars.

To win this $7,500 scholarship, you have to be a college student and live in the United States, have a 3.2 GPA, provide a resume, two recommendations, and academic transcripts. The next opportunity to receive such a scholarship will appear in May 2018, so don’t miss it.

  1. The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Scholarship.

This educational establishment offers different space investigation programs for both graduates and undergraduates. The scholarships are between $500 and $5,000 and are granted to AIAA student members with a good reputation.

The requirements for applicants are the following: they have to be the US college or university students, have a minimum 3.3 GPA, and complete at least one academic semester. Also, a person applying for this scholarship writes an essay about his/her career goals, achievements, favorite activities, and personal values. Graduates should add a research description to their CVs.

  1. The Aerospace States Association Scholarship.

The Aerospace States Association grants two $2,000 scholarships each year for those who love the aerospace industry. First- and second-year undergraduates can apply for such a scholarship and use it for tuition and learning materials. In a resume, the applicant should note his/her extracurricular activities, participation in the community, and include two letters of recommendation.

  1. The Boustany Astronomy Scholarship.

Another beneficial college scholarship is provided by the Bostany Foundation and students are able to investigate space and the universe by conducting research. Such a scholarship awarded every three years at the University of Cambridge helps cover tuition and administration fees, travel and housing expenses. What is more, students who win this scholarship can try an unpaid internship with the foundation during their studies. However, the next application period will be open only in February 2019.

  1. Other Available Scholarships.

There are some other colleges and universities that offer valuable astronomy scholarships. For example, in 2018, Minnesota State University—Mankato will start their application period for a Leo V. Standeford Astronomy Scholarship. This grant is given to students who are star lovers and have at least a 3.4 GPA in astronomy courses.

Students who love to study physics and astronomy may apply to the Northern Arizona University for up to four scholarships. The application deadline is on March each year.
